~ WOW what a fun, wild night of punk rock tunes! Only met one asshole that felt the need to go out of his way, really WAY out of his way…to be a prick. There is always one. BUT - no more jail for me so no more fighting and here I am - still talking shit. What a little punk ass bitch…but at least he was at the right show for it. Fortunately for both of us I am no longer 18 because back in the day he would have gotten his wish big time…he could have been the first reviewer on YELP to review the taste of the sidewalk right outside the Hawthorne Theater.
He was loud and impacted by Pseudo-pride…

SHOUT OUT to all the adult skaters at the Burnside skate park in Portland, Oregon that let this little-guy drop in and have his run. I made double sure that this is the picture he wanted me to take. At first he was like - NO PICTURES! I told him that I could not take pictures of anyone without written permission. The forms are WAY to long and take way to much time so I don't pursue it anymore.
THEN I have a little buddy shadowing me the rest of the visit suggesting different photo shots. He was proud of his skate park and he should be - its pretty amazing actually.

WOW - I totally remember going to see Norman Sylvester like many, many times…probably 10-15 years ago, maybe even longer now, at the Candlelight room in Portland. If I remember correctly it was a reasonable walk from the Cheerful Tortoise. I recall fondly now…I used to check out the show at the Candlelight room…but toward the end of that show I would duck out of the Candlelight Room and log out the end of the night at the Cheerful Tortoise...because at that time I loved the blues (still do, BTW) but the crowd was on average much older then me at the time…my how the tables have turned. That was an amazing place though…and an amazing time really…wow.

At any rate I am going to go see Norman Sylvester…probably in Portland, sometime hopefully in the near future. He is still playing shows all the time…check it out!

WENT OUT TO SUPPORT local music scene Saturday night. Checked out show at Eastside because Trimet makes that relatively easy for me (just cannot close the place…curfew is around 11:30).

ASS A GUITAR PLAYER MYSELF I would think of these guys as the Drop-D quartet, respectfully. Actually it was pretty cool to be exposed to that approach to guitar again. I tend to gravitate to standard tuning so cool for me to see a different approach. I actually dug many of the grooves…thanks!

This reminds me of me…
AFTER STUDYING SWIL recorded shows I realized I had this same problem….YOU NEED to make eye contact with audience if you goal is engagement therein. I was HORRIBLE at this and the best thing I can say is you NEED to practice this as part whatever your practice regimen is. It is something I still struggle with myself but those that are good at it increase audience engagement significantly. Technically the cat had chops so there you go…not to mention time is on his side.
Also - great recovery from significant technical challenges! Seriously everyone!

IT WAS A GOOD REMINDER: If it can go wrong, you need to be ready for it to go wrong. They made a great recovery from very challenging technical difficulties - and fortunately he was able to borrow a guitar from a player in another band. That was nice of that guy to do that.
SWIL has previously played shows with this bass player in his other project. Good to see him again and good energy! Way to persevere!

SO I HAD TO MISS THE LAST BAND DUE TO Trimet curfew. I got on the Clackamass south bound train around 11:30ish. I boarded at the 82nd station…which is sketchy as can be the later it gets after the sun goes down. I bought my ticket and walked down to the boarding platform, constantly watching my six and looking out for bad guys…when all of the sudden I hear yelling 'HEY YOU!!' and the sound of footsteps quickly approaching…
I quickly turn around…and it was a Trimet employee wanting to inspect my vest closer. Then he shared that Schlitz beer was his first beer ever! Right on…I snapped a selfie with him, and slung him some propoganda.

UNFORTUNATELY these are my only GOB captures from the night…including NO videos. Wow - took me a while to go from amateur reporter to smart-ass but I eventually got there. It doesn't help when you have to get on stage, in the middle of the set - to rectify a fallen cymbal because the drummer knocked it over! It also doesn't help that you are finishing all their drinks they left on the table they were using before they took the stage. I'm not proud….

This was fun - a bunch of VERY old steam engines. This video was taken in the AM while everything was getting started for the show. That would be funny to take this through a Multnoma County vehicle emissions testing facility. My guess is that it would fail miserably.
It was fun to hear the old steam whistles going and listen to the steady old-engines make every turn sound like their last….all the while never stoping. I think it is a pretty cool piece of American history and I hope you enjoy!

Back in the day - this vehicle was used to move tourists and sightseers around the park! How cool is that?
THIS is bitchin' to me!
I still collect small items and enjoy beer-related memorabilia. I did have a good collection of posters that I kept for me personal collection to redisplay some day - no idea when but that is the thinking as they sit in storage now.
ANYWAY - I have the 1992 version of this poster! When I get it out of storage some day I am going to give it to a good friend now in Seattle that graduated in 1992, is into the hydro-racing since he was a teenager, and I played football with him at Montana State.
Promises…promises…with no clear, observable, or even apparent timeline….my speciality!

My new friend Kramer (WW2 veteran)

I thanked Kramer for his service. 93 years young and still volunteering at the LeMay annual car show. He said that he has been a volunteer for 20+ years!!
I enjoyed my talk with Kramer…I really did.
He told me about his Marine unit stopping for a bite to eat, in full battle outfit, carrying a heavy backpack in 129 degree sun! He said that he had put his rifle down along side him while they took a break to have a bite to eat. Something startled the unit and everyone jumped to their guard. Kramer indicated that he threw his lunch down and immediately grabbed his rifle that was laying next to him. Due to the weather he blistered both of his hands because he had grabbed the rifle so tightly and the rifle had been in direct sunlight cooking.
He also told me about how he had gotten shot in the leg, his thigh specifically. Amazing stories really, but you have to put that phone down and actually listen with your ears if your going to pull these stunts off like I do effortlessly.
Kramer was in charge of the 'big trucks' room. He was incredibly knowledgeable about everything in that room and we both really liked the black beauty Kramer is pictured inspecting above.

My volunteer spot for a while
So around 12:30 PM I was here for about 45-60 minutes. I was relieving another volunteer so that he could get some lunch (FREE lunch BTW). It was at the back of the property tucked away so foot traffic was a little less then in some areas of the property. I considered my own primate Idaho. I should have taken a picture, but the attraction here was - this was taken from a very old school-house that was actually in use at one point and somewhere in the 'Rainier' area according to local experts.
Also as can be seen in the picture is this bicycle with covered seating with a guest rider. I kept daydreaming about how I could open up an emotional bicycle taxi service that specializes in carting around drunks at local beer festivals in Portland.

is in search of a
DRUMMER!
SWIL is looking for a drummer to complete what has always been a 4-piece.
It is safe to assume that SWIL is a rock band. However we also incorporate non-traditional Rock influences to create the wild, live-vibe that is SWIL.
WHAT SWIL IS LOOKING FOR:
We are looking for a solid drummer that can fill the void behind the kit.
MUST be able to play consistently. Must be open to exploring tasteful percussion with a good ear for when things behind the kit become too busy or over-the-top at inappropriate times.
MUST have employment or verifiable trust fund and a consistent payment schedule into the future.
MUST have own transportation.
MUST have a schedule that caters to the ability to practice a couple of times a week.
MUST have interest in established SWIL songs that have been compiled. We will always be open to input and suggestions for improvement. Future material created that includes new drummer will definitely allow for input from that drummer. However to be clear SWIL has an established catalog, and the ability to cater show sets somewhat to create an overall show that is the best it can be and is copasetic to other bands sounds/styles we might be playing with. But ultimately if you do not like the established songs it would be hard to understand how this would work.
PLEASE be aware SWIL's music is 85-90% original material. Songs that we do move forward with as a cover will definitely have the SWIL vibe, or it has not been seen as in alignment with our goals.
WE WOULD PREFER someone that is enthusiastic about creating music and occasionally, or often, is open to attending shows to support the local music scene and quite frankly friends we want and try to support in other bands.
Drummer MUST have ability to practice tunes away from studio on his or her own time. One would assume then future SWIL DRUMMER would have their own kit for this somewhere. The point is we do practice as needed on our own time and the drummer, especially initially, is going to have some homework. To be clear - SWIL music, in a basic sense, does not require complicated, non-typical percussion work. However timing, stops, and other song changes will take some time to get down.
SWIL WOULD PREFER someone that is open to at least providing backing vocals. This may not be something that we need right away, however in the future we would like to be able to add to backing vocals at some point.
SWIL is not booking shows at this time due to not having a drummer. It's not a great place to be and we look forward to rectifying this ship but we do get asked consistently to play shows. We look forward to getting tight with a new drummer and fixing this with some great shows!!
PRACTICE/REHEARSAL:
SWIL typically has practiced once or twice weekly on weekdays, and would like to practice within at least 2 weekends a month. This is all negotiable however currently all members of SWIL work day shift…so someone with a SWING shift or a job that caters to nightlife, such as a bartender working Friday and Saturday nights, this may not work for you and SWIL.
PRACTICE LOCATION currently is in NW Portland. The studio is within walking distance of the Sasquatch Brewery in NW Portland.
PLEASE NOTE: Individuals looking for vocational reimbursement (expect to be paid) for 'services' provided on drums need not apply.
SWIL currently has a full drum set in the studio. Future SWIL drummer may consider playing these instead of lugging around own kit for practice if you do not misuse the kit.
Alcohol, Drugs, Vices, Groupies:
SWIL is not going to tell you how to live your life. Any band with an internet page dedicated to Rainier Beer certainly cannot tell you!
Typically rehearsals are 'closed' sessions with band members typically only present to limit distractions. Alcohol and Marijuana are legal in the State of Oregon, however habits that impede SWIL growth as a band cannot be tolerated. YES, we will kick your ass out if a debilitating, distracting drug problem manifests that impacts the band. There is no cigarette smoking allowed in the studio, or anywhere within the SWIL studio building. Smokers, from all bands present in the building, smoke cigarettes outside.
If this sounds good to you and of interest to you - we would love to hear from you!
AGE realities: SWIL established members are not in their 20's anymore. Although we would be open to this and don't want to close the door, the age range for SWIL drummer would probably fall between 30 - 55. To be clear nothing is impossible however this is something worth thinking about, at any rate candidate at minimum will need to be able to enter bars/clubs/taverns that serve alcohol. Hence, you will need to be at least age 21+.
SEX realities: We really do not care if drummer male or female. We care about rhythm consistency and ability to play drums most.

No more winning chronicles
When I first got off the boat here in the Clark County/Multnoma County area from Montana - I lived in downtown Vancouver.
The Hough neighborhood is somewhat interesting in that socio-economic status lines are in places drawn block by block, with irregular lines.
Some areas of Hough mirror the revitalized downtown, purchased houses recently scrubbed and painted by flippers looking to CA$H in on someone's else's misfortune and/or foreclosure, or just purchased an older house in tough condition.
Some areas, however, house the economic less-fortunate.
This leads me to something I discovered on one of my walks when I lived in this neighborhood over 10 years ago:
WOW - have things changed at the Sharehouse and the 4-block vicinity around the Sharehouse. Very sad to see.
I interviewed several homosapiens in their tents and I was unable to find anyone tired of winning in the new, strong economy. Thankfully places like the Sharehouse can be a beacon of hope for these people where they can at least count on a fresh meal.
Anyway - INDEED things have changed at the share house since I first discovered it on a walk in 2001. The changes are not positive.
The share house provides homeless resources such as consistent hot meals, showers and possibly hygiene laundry services, etc.
As you can see on the handy-dandy map features provided by SWIL on this website, the Sharehouse is tucked away on the edge of the Port of Vancouver waterfront industrial area. If you look at the big picture - folks are not going to discover this place unless by accident because there is no through street really to anywhere. You cannot get down to the waterfront from here because there is no access.
Really the only reason to go to these blocks would be the few businesses tucked away in the area…or you owned a nearby residence. Oh boy does that sound fun…thank you residents in this area for taking one for the team! I also noticed in the video below that many residences in this area of filming are actually boarded up.
So - on my walk in 2001 when I discovered the Sharehouse - there were a few tents (5-7 maybe) and a number of people milling around. The numbers in the area at the time would fluctuate based on the timeframes meals were served.
WOW - things have certainly changed. I honestly was blown away.
I was downtown dealing with real estate legal paperwork in light of the pending sale of my house. I had some extra time and curiosity so I went and checked out the old stomping ground and decided to drive-by the Sharehouse.
I was very sad to see this…what it has become. You will see fights, possible drug deals, people living in desperation in tents and/or vehicles, and vehicles meandering slowly through tentopolis in this video.
I wonder if what you/we/me are witnessing in this investigative video is 'drive through' drug purchases. I hope not…but WOW!

Ass I was going 5 miles per hour - I noticed two female Vancouver City employees handing out official flyers. I stopped the 1980 Chevy Shortbed pickup from the movie Mad Max and requested a form. I thanked them for a copy of the form and asked them to point me in the right direction as I was looking for a camping spot for myself. They looked at each other puzzled and pointed out on the form, in the middle of tent-o-la-polis, that camping was NOT allowed in the City of Vancouver.

Well - my original goal for doing this was to look for other Municipal Codes the city could cite to validate the clean-up actions. I am here to report I could not find anything that would directly address the elephant in the room - homelessness.
Honestly the way city officials are behaving they should add this municipal code to the handout:

(I actually think, what is cognitively in the driver's seat for officials that put together 'clean-up day' and this corresponding form, this nuisance code IS the handout itself)

I will admit I don't know this cat personally - I'm sure I probably will some day (his parents are adorable - maybe he was adopted??
DUDE - I was KIDDING about the adoption.
However this came to my attention thru a super-homie so I will have to go in some capacity today.
"Oh man though - I don't have the time." - "I could only go for like 30 minutes…not worth it" - THESE ARE GREAT EXAMPLES OF PISS POOR EXCUSES!
Honestly what in the hell are you talking about?! They seemed to realize this today so they made the benefit show from NOON to 10:45!! 10 hours and 45 minutes and you don't have the time - you don't have to go to the whole thing!
PLEASE support if you can - and all you have to do is toss some coin in the basket and rock your dumb-ass out.
Hopefully I will see you there! My goal is to get there by the 7:30 set but that is the latest time goal. I mean I do have a life…maybe not the best or least emotional but I do have a life. hahaha
ON another note - we had a kick-ass show last night. YES - there is propoganda coming with the jokes, insinuating comments, and compromising photographs - BUT this seemed much, much more important. (BTW - thanks everyone that came out to support SWIL and the Eastside Bar/Grill's 1-year birthday bash under current ownership. Congrats man and thanks for letting SWIL be a part of it!

What in the heck!
So last night I surprised myself and went out to support live music. A lot of people I noticed 'support' other bands…when they have a show with that band.
How commendable! I mean, you were there already anyway. You may want to ice that bruise on your back where you keeping patting yourself….Anywayz~
I went to check out the show at the Eastside Bar and Grill.

This location has always had parking access headaches. Nothing has changed unfortunately and it's no ones fault it just is what it is. Be careful!
I had a pretty good time. Actually, RAW helped me have a good time as well. Shout out to RAW for making my time at the Eastside Bar and Grill last night that much better!

Very Chord-RIFFy and fun for about anyone I would think to find something to enjoy. Some guitar soloing, singing dynamics, etc. Check them out! New band experience for me - support if you can!
DATA on support for their own show: 66% of this band stayed to support the other bands!
5 on the Hour
The most versatile band of this night. I appreciated the singers enthusiasm however he is walking a fine line between enthusiasm and a Steve Martin impersonation. Whatever works but your making the kids uncomfortable! Hahahaha.
Anyway - versatile vocals with the front-man changing between two different members at times. Quality guitar solos that had aspects that made the solos 'stand out and entertain' by being unique. Moving beyond the singer's (possibly involuntary) muscle-spasms when a microphone is placed in front of him on a stage - the singing did have depth and did not just rely on screaming.
They are worth checking out I would think. Good energy that can be tough at times - but this band definitely had it! Get out and support this band if you can.
DATA on support for their own show: Hard to gauge when they got there and left because due to tight space, not all bands move gear into club at load-in. They DID appear to stick around and support some of the 3rd band however they are also smokers (I am guessing) so that habit puts you outside ironically despite the cover charge.
Crowded Habit
Having gone through recent bass player change - that can be a challenge. With a limited number of practices under his belt the new bass player seemed to contribute just fine. Way to go and keep rocking!
DATA on support for their own show: Everyone was there the whole night supporting all the other bands.

Thursday night I went to the MODA center for the Daimler/Blazers family fun night! It was fun too. I was really, really excited at first because I found out all the concessions that were open would be free. Don't tell my colon doctor - but I had hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza, licorice on a rope, cotton candy, and Coca-Cola in a recyclable can (if you want your .10 cents back held as ransom by your own state government)!

Outside Blazer locker room returning to the court!
** When I played NCAA football at MSU there was a sign outside the locker room similar to this - I used to kiss it and blow the kiss to the higher power above. Then on behalf of the Bobcats I would sprint down the field and have an epic collision with someone running just as fast right at me. I may have busted a couple face-masks but I never let the City of Bozeman down by giving only my best…we all did. **
What an amazing time that does not remind me of any employee perk from my old job…Hmmm. They even had the 1977 Blazers NBA championship trophy on display for photo opportunities. Here is Mr. Samson with the 1977 Blazers NBA championship trophy!!! (My small hands are so, so frustrating for me to see!)
Two things I could accomplish by going here:
1)~Check out the Cascade Tavern on a Saturday night. I have not been at the Cascade Tavern for a show since I last saw Jim Mesi as well as The Paul Delay band. Paul past away several years ago now - I am glad I got to see him play and sing - AMAZING.
Sorry about your luck if you missed that one.
Ass a side note: WOW - Jim Mesi is still doing it! His website says he is accepting guitar students - that is way cool he is a guitar instructor/mentor. I can't afford it since I put all my money toward Rainier Beer - but cool nonetheless! Way cool actually.
We shall see if I make it. At the end of the night it is a cover band, respectable indeed however you are playing the music of someone else. It has it's place, for sure - I will see what I can do!
2~Support Mr. Crenshaw and show up at his show. Then we will see if talk is talk or talk = WALK.
(I am literally on the fence ass you can see time-wise but I am going to try to make it or at minimum promote the scene if you know what I mean! If I go I will take 100s of compromising pictures and post them directly on this website…actually no..I would not do that. That is not the SWIL way! Please support these shows if you can!)

The fiat money and corresponding reward system to get you to continue to engage in that silly behavior is something that you personally are going to navigate and figure out a way to overcome.

The Brinksmen are putting things back together after a recent departure of the guitar player that - well I personally cannot remember when he might not have been in the band. Tough transition for anyone!
Dug Cox plays bass and sings in the band - and he has jammed with SWIL a couple of times over the years. Great musician and it's exciting to think that this band continues with a new guitarist. Exciting stuff…well we are excited anyway!

What a dumbass I am - I like the eighties for guitar music. It's really only in the last year or two I stopped listening to Van Halen every day. The 12-step program is finally working and I am listening to a lot of new music - which you have to if you band is trying to work with other bands and you are trying to put together shows that are copasetic to each other or at least adhere's to a theme.
I actually get excited like a school-kid talking to other musicians on the scene, they share with me their musical interests and influences and after being locked in a closet for years and finally feeling comfortable coming out now I am listening to a lot more variety of music then I had with me on hand in the closet. I now want to attain Axecrack's CD #1 after seeing them live and becoming aware that the CD even existed after talking to my super-homie Jayson Raines last Saturday where he was supporting our show in return. {Hmmm - maybe Mr. Crenshaw is on to something here…)
I may have to steal some kid's bike locally and $ell it to get the CD - but I want that CD now damit.
10-years ago SWIL's online presence was best described as 'A$$hole-ish' - mocking this, making fun of that band, etc.
We even cancelled shows because we were 'hung over.' - but we kept drinking like true rockstars…talk about stupid…anyway…….
I personally guarantee that myself and Orion Bailey learned from that experience & are behaving much, much more differently now. There are also times where we as a band process and reflect on how we want to treat others, how we can make everything spin for a positive, and promote - promote - PROMOTE!!!
BASICALLY give this town a propoganda enema. That is what I plan to do again. That is why I built this machine of propoganda…the enema from within.
At any rate - my trigger here was the perception of attacking (probably incorrect perception) directed at another band's propoganda. That's really it.
I love propoganda - in fact I have been diagnosed as adDICKted to propoganda and seeking professional help was advised but phuck that I love the high!!
I realize I didn't quite apologize on FAKEBOOK - however ass a rock$tar in my own mind this is ass close ass I can get.

OK: The answer is literally 9:00—>9:15. I am personally set on 9:15 myself but there are lots of variables. However, here is the deal - plan on coming to see 3 really good rock and roll bands. Yes, I can confidently say this, IMO anyway.
A couple of weeks ago I myself, the Fern-a-nater, and J-Dawg went to a show at O'Malleys ourselves to support local music and friends in other bands. It was a really great time and a great atmosphere - but not a big space however I realized. I have no idea how I am going to get my guitar speakers all in there…
Can you hear me, is this thing on?!
At any rate we…would love, love to see folks come out to support this show. GOB and SWIL have been in tireless communications and drinking competitions to make this show a reality. Please come and enjoy our (mostly) original music from 3 great bands.

…that is why I created the clear and easy to navigate SWIL Calendar page on this website to prevent this. However to be clear we at SWIL are excited too. Just got off the phone with J-dawg from Goats of Belmont - I really like his approach to show propoganda. Which reminds me - on that phone call he gave me the skinny on why we can not have a raffle…and it makes sense I guess.
Never tiring in his propagation of show propoganda, J-dawg went to O'Malley's last weekend to put up some show flyers and the whole 9 yards. At any rate he was corned by club personnel and all the questions about money, money, and who gets who's money, etc. Long story short - we claimed that we needed to use the money to pay off the raffle prizes obviously.
He smiled patiently and then inquired about the rest of the money - not fully prepared for this inquiry and shooting from the hip truthfully the answer was obvious - split it between the bands and buy alcohol.
AND the very, very good point was made that if we spent the money on alcohol at O'Malley's, then technically we could claim O'Malley's is getting the money…eventually.
Well…long story short this did not go over well. Ultimately it comes down to concerns relevant to claiming it as income with the IRS - indeed - this is not included in the most recent tax cuts overall…
It's all considered phucking theIRS!

I don't know - I don't know. Why be so upset? Really? Right?
We've had other schemes and scams fall through but this was close to really getting implemented - I was already online reviewing different kegs of beer to purchase with the money. Preferably a high-octane IPA to quickly get to cognitive cruising altitude that is the SWIL way of life.
Maybe it's a good thing the more I think about the raffle - I remember what happened last time I went to BINGO, ordered just ONE drink…and woke up in a strange place…

We are gathering information about having a raffle possibly at a future GOB/SWIL show. We joke about it but there is nothing in the works at this time about a future show - so we shall see.
One thing I am considering is having a raffle item be an AR-15. I crunched the numbers and there is real money potential there. PLEASE NOTE: It is not known at this time if an AR-15 as a raffle item is legal in the States of Washington and Oregon - but I am going to phone the governments and see myself. If the answer is no then NO problem - it is what it is - we will just be that much more ready for our future show in the works in the lovely State of Idaho.
I know a lot of bands are also out there trying to raise beer drinking money like SWIL and GOB. Again, there is much, much more research that I intend to spearhead to resolve the many legalities of this. After months and months of planning and orchestrating the implementation of our overall, grand scheme to inject propaganda into the lokal muzic scene - We at SWIL HQ are proud to announce the unveiling of our page - DEDICATED to the amazing beer that Rainier is, overall price, for the corresponding price-point.
Thank you - Rainier Beer - for helping MrSamson, and the world for that matter, wash the world from their back on a daily basis.

Anywho - This is some crazy, POWERFUL stuff. WOW. There is so much user information relevant to visiting the SWILnation.com website it is staggering. Yes, according to Google ANALyticz - someone visited the website with a reported location of China.

A good friend in another band inquired about the need for a standalone website in the age of Facebook…well - my response somewhere on the 'top 5 why' list as to why is now Google ANALyticz.
Just an example…for now…
Regardless of the accidental hit from China - Google ANALyticz is telling us with concrete data that Portland, and the surrounding area, is our home.

SWIL, in collaboration with GOB, are exploring the idea of having a raffle. Tickets for the raffle, or let's call it a goal at this time, might be $5.00 dollars per ticket and 5 tickets with $20 dollar purchase. We shall see, NOTHING confirmed at this time.
OK - from the peanut gallery - I can hear it now…
"But you already overcharged me $5.00 doll hairs at the door to get in and see this rock show/comedy act - WTF!!??"

The answer is simple. Most members of SWIL and GOB have a long established drinking problem, once a month we hold a fund raiser - last month we sold our bodies on Powell and 82nd, this month its a raffle but I swear it's for a good cause…

NEVERMIND - that never came to light. Reality is the leaders of both bands held a brainstorming session for the raffle- it was supposed to be 'safe' with all ideas accepted - well yeah right the above scenario was my idea and I was publicly mocked and ridiculed. Unbelievable.
Anyway - the idea that did become the final idea is this. We want to support our friend Kit Bonhannon - who is the owner of Good Earth Guitars specializing in beautiful custom artwork, tweaking guitar looks overall to establish a theme, and can also provide other guitar work services.

At any rate, Good Earth Guitars will be donating a guitar to be raffled as 1st place item. Second place will be 2 Blazer tickets, seated right next to each other, game date/time to be decided.

Nothing is finalized but basically money would go to Kit to pay for guitar and money would go to pay for Blazers tickets. We know how many tickets are needed to break even - and although not confirmed as a go, it is also not confirmed as dead. Excess money I am guessing would go to Kit to assist with guitar costs and throw him some scratch during these challenging times…stay tuned!
We shall see - we shall see. Without question you can assume this about the raffle - the winner will be chosen at the END of the show…must be present to win…therefore you will also get your ass rocked by Tiger Touch.
Bottom line: This show is going to be a fun one!

OK….this was good.
So I went down to the ol' el Heavy Mental Brewing in Vancouver, WA. I am very happy to say I was pleasantly surprised.
So…lets put the show picture here again…
This is the show I went to. I had a great time. I am not sure how long this place has been there - someone whispered 'several' years in my ear along with other whispers…but the point is it was pretty cool. I am going to admit that right here in writing…you are the witness. Go check out Heavy Mental (Metal) Brewing. Good stuff.
So here is this band Axecrack. Someone even asked me if I liked Asscrack…I had to correct them I was like WTF????!!…they were enthusiastic about the music but…ya know…had the name wrong…I corrected them and they thanked me and went on their way. I had my own misconceptions thinking phuck me I better have 2 sets of earplugs (not because poor musicians AT ALL, but I was expecting a wall of sound) at any rate very tasteful stuff and not a 'wall of sound' at all….I am telling you check out this band. I told them SWIL would rock the joint with them some time for a show in the future if we could make it make sense…we shall see stranger things have happened but I never thought I would say that. No way. Be careful with your prejudices people…very careful, as I was reminded myself tonight. Maybe it's an awareness thing but sometimes I love being wrong.
That show would be the Mt. Vernon HS connection, though. I sh!t you not….straight up run your dumb asses over…and the world would be a better place…I mean why not??
Bottom line: Check them out!
Jackfoolery really did sound good too. I am familiar with them and they brought the same show/energy that they are known for yet again. I had a great time for this set and SWIL looks forward to sharing the stage with JackFoolery in April. We are going to open this show so obviously that sets the bar pretty high……LOL….ok…ok..I am sure they will be fine!
Bottom line: It will be a good time - check them out whenever and wherever you can!

Brief update:
Website updated - Main page and Calendars page..to integrate the show flyer generated by Anthony Mills. Anthony is the skin-spanker (drummer) in the band Goats of Belmont also playing this show. This is a really exciting show with great things to enjoy and take away from with every band. When not laying down s!ck beats on the drums he is making really fun show flyers…like this one!

Oh what to do this weekend…Friday specifically!??
Well, I will tell you what I am going to do. I am going to support local music by supporting the following show:
I will be honest I am not excited about the entry cost @ $10 per person. I will go once to check it out and support these bands but that just seems a little steep to me. I am just saying that in an effort to increase attendance, but what do I know nothing really. This has nothing to do with the talent of these bands.
Please support these bands as well…
We are playing a show with Jackfoolery in April of this year at the Eastside Bar and Grill. Check out our CALENDAR/SHOWS page for additional and specific information. These guys have a solid, driving rock-and-roll sound.
AXECRACK - Now these guys are a little heavier I think. But I am going to support because I went to high school with the guitar player so need to support.
Lastly - I need to finally just check out this place as a local place to play.

Within the calendars/show section of this website we added some information on a recently added show. SWIL is returning to the Eastside Bar/Grill April 7th, 2018 with these kick-a$$ bands:

We have been working VERY HARD hustling and trying to build quality, thought-out shows.
What is exciting about this show is the flow of intensity - start with SWIL by lighting the bomb's fuse, transition to Jackfoolery for a rock-and-roll jackhammer, then pick yourself up only to get curb-stomped sonically by the assault that IS Piranhapuss. Very cool!!
After putting the pieces of SWIL back together, getting all members healthy, and meeting people our contacts for other bands is growing and growing. Does your band have what it takes to align with SWIL's approach to every show:

The website appears to be responding to CPR!
The website seems to be one of the last things that is getting much needed attention to be brought current with what is going on with the band.
SWIL is now booking shows and looking to book more, and more! We are planning to keep this website updated as much as we possibly can. We are on borrowed time, and borrowed software, so the increments may be minimal at first.
Our original website, created about five years ago, had some sort of problem with mobile scaling/loading and therefore often loaded as an error. I/we apologize for that, and look forward to keeping this website updated as best as possible. After multiple tests and viewing on multiple devices, the website appears to be operating much more smoothly and cleanly now with current rendering across platforms.
Our most recent show was December 30, 2017. It was a Night before New Year's celebration, and there were five bands total. SWIL started the night off opening up first. We are very happy with how our set went, and thank everyone that came out that night to support us. It really is appreciated!
Thank you also to BEST BET LIVE ENTERTAINMENT for including us on this bill and your continued support! We had a great time and THANK YOU.
